WINDOW UKNP Submission Guidelines General
Information Members of the UKNP Nature
Photographers Network may submit articles for consideration. - All
submissions of nature, landscape and wildlife photography articles are by "electronic"
format via e-mail to UKNP@naturephotography.co.uk.
We do not accept prints, slides or negatives!
- All rights remain with the author/photographer!
- By submitting your photo(s) and/or text to Nature Photographers Online Magazine,
Inc. (NPN), you grant NPN first serial rights to publish the photo(s) and/or text.
You also declare that you are the sole owner of the rights to the photo(s) and/or
text submitted. Simultaneous submissions not accepted without prior approval.
- By submitting your photo(s) to UKNP / NPN for publication, you agree not to
hold UKNP / NPN liable for any unauthorized reproduction of your photo(s) or subsequent
damage as a result of the image(s) being displayed on the UKNP / NPN Web site.
- If the article is consider worthy, and globally appliciable, it will also
be passed to the NPN editor for possible inclusion as an article in the main NPN
site.
Types of Submissions - Feature Article
- Comprised of 1000 to 2000 words of text with up to six images that support and
illustrate the theme of the article. Any subject relating to nature, landscape
and wildlife photography is appropriate for a Feature Article.
- Equipment
Review - Comprised of 1000 to 1500 words of text with up to four images that
support and illustrate the text. Any equipment or accessory used in nature photography
is an appropriate subject for review.
- Photo Itineraries - A "location
review" comprised of 500 to 1000 words of text with up to six images that support
and illustrate the text. A Photo Itinerary describes a publicly accessible location
that is ideal for nature photography. The article must contain specific information
including local driving directions, the types of subjects that can be photographed
and any specific seasonal information in regards to weather and/or tourist activity.

Image Information Requirements The
following image information is required for all submissions - - Name
and/or description of the subject, including its scientific name if possible.
- Where the image was taken.
- Camera and lens used.
- Flash information
(if applicable).
- Type of camera support used (tripod, beanbag, handheld, etc.).
- Exposure settings if available.
Minimum Submission Standards
(All Categories)
When evaluating submissions, the UKNP editors look for
fresh and interesting articles accompanied by outstanding images that support
the text. Articles that are not clear, concise and punctated correctly will not
be appreciated. Please spell check your article before sending it.
In order to maintain high editorial standards, UKNP editors reserve
the right to edit all submissions for grammar and structure. Submissions will
not be accepted unless accompanied by all necessary information as outlined above!
UKNP editors may keep qualifying articles in reserve for up to 6 months unless
the author requests otherwise. Many otherwise good submissions may be rejected each month due to limited
space.
Image File Guidelines (All Categories) In order
to present your image at the highest possible quality, you must follow these guidelines
when submitting your image(s) - - Size the image to 500 pixels (72 dpi)
on the longest side. Please do not place the photo in a "picture frame", outline
or use any other "edge effects" on the image! Prior to publication, we will we
resize the photo as needed. The file should be supplied in a JPEG format with
no compression, and with any subtle copyright markings already in place. Other than
very minor adjustment of contrast, brightness and sharpness, we will not alter
your image in any other way.
- Attach all images and text to one e-mail
and send only once.
Sending Your Submission
All submissions
are via email only. Please send the text as a MS Word (.doc) or plain text (.txt) file.
